Pierre Delignies Calderon (Klavier)

Born in 1990, the young pianist Pierre Delignies soon began to stand out at the conservatory in his hometown, Santander, where he studied with professors Miguel Sierra and Irini Gaitani. Later he moved to San Sebastian with a scholarship from the Botin Foundation, where he studied with Marta Zabaleta, Miguel Borges, and Ricardo Descalzo, specializing in contemporary repertoire. He is unanimously awarded the Matrícula de Honor of his final degree. Once again with a scholarship from the Botín Foundation and the Albéniz Foundation, he moved to Madrid to enter the Reina Sofía School of Music, with the great Russian pedagogue Galina Egiazarova, who awarded him the prize for the most outstanding student of the chair in the 2013-2014 academic year. He later pursued postgraduate studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with Naum Grubert, and Ralph van Raat in contemporary repertoire, winning the “Special Talent” award and a scholarship from the Jacques Vonk Fund and the Fundación La Caixa, graduating with the highest marks.
In 2020, he moves to Lucerne to continue studying contemporary repertoire both as a soloist and as an ensemble with Stefan Wirth. His first recording “Shades of Melancholy” (2015), with Orpheus, has received a warm welcome from both the specialized and general press, including the “Golden Meloman” award from the music magazine Meloman. Pierre Delignies has also worked with other prestigious masters such as Claudio Martínez Mehner, Eldar Nebolsin, Mariana Gurkova, Helen Krizos, Josep Colom, Luca Chiantore, John Rink, Marta Gulyas, Luis Fernando Pérez, Dmitri Alexeev or Dmitri Bashkirov. He has also participated in The International Music Holland Sessions working with maestro Pavel Gililov, and in the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, with maestro Robert Levin.
His recitals have been applauded by both public and critics. He has performed in Spanish cities such as Santander, Oviedo, Lugo, Cádiz, Pamplona, Segovia, Bilbao, Vitoria, San Sebastián, Ibiza, León, El Escorial and Madrid. Also abroad in cities like Paris (France), Porto (Portugal) or Amsterdam (Netherlands), acting in legendary halls like Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw, Casa da Musica, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Palau de la Música, Kursaal, Teatro Victoria Eugenia, etc.
Some of his most outstanding performances have been broadcast on Radio Nacional de España, and he has taken part in festivals such as the Santander International Festival, as a soloist with the Cantabria Youth Orchestra under the direction of Jaime Martín; Encuentro de Música and Academia de Santander, having been broadcast live on the classicalplanet.com channel; Festival Músika-Música de Bilbao and Festival Quincena Musical de San Sebastián. He also performed at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre as a soloist with the Musikene Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paul Murphy and with the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jun Märkl.
